Hold for Me. When clinicians click “Hold for Me” on mobile or iPad, our digital assistant will wait in their place and notify them to rejoin the call when it detects a human response, thus cutting down on the time that clinicians spend on hold with pharmacists and insurance companies.

Care Team Workflows. We now provide more support for the entire clinical care team, enabling MAs and nurses to initiate video visits on behalf of providers and then easily hand off the visit after completing intake. Care Teams is out to clients who have requested the feature and will roll out to other clients over the course of the quarter - if you want early access, please reach out to your Client Success Manager!

Expanded Patient Language Support. We've expanded our patient language support and video invite text translation options to include Brazilian Portuguese, Polish, Swahili, Haitian Creole, Traditional Chinese, and Somali.

Schedule Texts in Advance. Clinicians can now schedule texts up to 7 days in advance.

Expire Text Messages. Clinicians can now expire or unsend text messages.

Text Notification Translation. Clinicians can now translate text message notifications into Spanish or simplified Chinese.

Single Sign-On. Our new SSO solution provides a secure, easy login flow that enables users to access Doximity Dialer by logging into their work account.*

Desktop & Mobile

Call via Mobile. This feature allows users to initiate a call from Epic Hyperspace and have it route to the Doximity app on their mobile phone. When a user clicks the ‘Call via Mobile’ button in the EHR, a push notification is sent to the user’s mobile phone, which then pulls the patient’s phone number into Dialer for the provider to initiate their voice or video call. Patient Image Sharing. Patients can now securely share a temporary image with their provider during their Dialer Video visit.

Patient Diagnostics Test. Patients can now test their device before their video visit by visiting https://visit.doximity.com/diagnostics. The diagnostics test checks for device compatibility along with network connectivity and strength, and then provides high-level recommendations to help ensure a successful video call.

Patient Preview Screen. For clinicians who send multiple video visit invites simultaneously, clinicians can now see which patient has joined their video visit.

Desktop and Mobile

Enterprise Caller IDs. Enterprise clients can now add Caller IDs at the Enterprise level. Clinicians must select their hospital affiliation in Dialer settings for Enterprise Caller IDs to appear. Contact your Client Success Manager to set up Enterprise Caller IDs for your organization.

Name Badge On/Off Setting. Users can now turn on and off their name badge under Dialer settings.

Patient

Expanded Patient Language Support. In addition to Spanish, Chinese, and Korean, Dialer will now automatically detect if a patient's device is set to French or Vietnamese and translate their video call experience accordingly.

Share Contact Information. Clinicians can now send their patients a virtual contact card with their office name, phone number, and photo. Patients can easily save this information to their contacts so that they will see a name and photo the next time their provider calls from that office number via Doximity Dialer.

Desktop

Introduction to Desktop Dialer. New users to Dialer Desktop will now see a quick, comprehensive introduction to navigating the desktop interface. This new intro will help explain the utility of major Dialer features and demonstrate how they will appear during patient calls.

Desktop and Mobile

Translate Video Invite Text. Users can now translate the video invite text into Spanish using the “Patient Invite Language” setting.

Shorten Video Link Expiration Time. Users can now customize how long patients have to join before the virtual visit link expires. Users can shorten the video link active time from the default setting of 5 hours to 5 minutes, 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, or 2 hours to prevent patients from joining after their no-show period. (Previously released on iPhone; now available on Android & Desktop)

Backup Provider for Dialer Voice. Dialer Voice calling is now fully backed up by a secondary provider. In the event of an outage of our primary service provider, Dialer will automatically route calls through our backup provider, ensuring that clinicians will be able to get in touch with their patients without interruption.

Keypad Access. Clinicians can now access the keypad during a voice call from the desktop. This allows clinicians to navigate menus and enter extensions while making desktop voice calls. 

Caller ID Recents List. Clinicians will now see which Caller ID was used for each phone number dialed in the Recents tab.

Patient

Detect Language Support Expanded. In addition to Spanish, Dialer will now automatically detect if a patient's device is set to Chinese or Korean. Join instructions and buttons will automatically change to the detected language on both Mobile and Desktop platforms.

Thank You Text Template. Clinicians can now text a thank you note to patients after a visit on iPhone and Android.

Placing a Call from Contacts (iPhone). Clinicians can now select Doximity video calls from their contact calling options. By long pressing on the contact’s video call button Doximity will appear as a call option similar to Facetime and other apps that offer video calling.

Desktop and Mobile

Custom Video Invite Messaging. Enterprise organizations can now set up custom messages for inviting patients to a video visit. Messages are limited to 132 characters, and can include the organization name, provider name, or other custom copy. Clinicians must select their hospital affiliation in Dialer settings for the custom invite copy to be used. To set this up for your organization, contact your Client Success Manager.

Name Badge Logo Management. Enterprise clinicians can now choose a logo to be displayed in their name badge based on their enterprise affiliation. The clinician makes the hospital affiliation selection within Dialer settings and the associated logo will be displayed. To set this up for your organization, contact your Client Success Manager. 

Patient

Light/Dark Mode: Patients using light or dark mode on their devices will now see a video call interface complimentary to their device settings. 

Wall Charts and Screen Share updates: Patients will now have a clearer view of wall charts and screen shares with the video preview removed.

Mobile (iPhone and Android)

Enterprise Affiliation Preferences. Clinicians that have affiliations with more than one healthcare system can select which organization name and logo displays to a patient during a video visit.

Name Badges. Clinicians can now edit the name badge displayed to patients during a video visit. Name, specialty and the logo are editable through “Settings > Name badge.” A preview of the name badge will be displayed to the clinician during editing.

Custom Consent. Dialer Enterprise now supports the ability for an organization's custom consent language to be displayed to patients before joining a Dialer video call. Contact your Client Success Manager for set up support.

Home Screen Update. Design updates have been made to the homescreen for a more simple, responsive experience that makes “Recents” and “Settings” easier to find.

Desktop

Enterprise Affiliation Preferences. Clinicians that have affiliations with more than one healthcare system can select which hospital name and logo will appear to the patient. Managed through Dialer settings, clinicians will be defaulted to “no affiliation” unless a selection is made.

Group Calling. Enterprise affiliated clinicians can now add an additional participant to a Dialer voice call on their desktop computer. After initiating a call with the first participant, clinicians click the ‘Add’ button to put the first participant on hold, and connect to a second call. Once connected, the calls can be merged into a conference where participants can speak with each other. If one clinician leaves the call, the other two participants will remain connected.

Wall Charts and supported specialties. Updated wall chart images are now available and new specialties are supported. Supported specialties include:

    • Obstetrics and Gynecology
    • Urology
    • Rheumatology
    • Family Medicine
    • Internal Medicine
    • Cardiology
    • Pediatrics

EPIC EHR Integration.Through an Epic app install at the organization level, clinicians can access Dialer from Epic Hyperspace. Once the install is set up, clinicians will connect their Doximity account to Epic the first time they use the app and will be automatically logged in for future uses. Doximity Dialer will automatically import the patient’s phone number from the Epic Encounter providing a seamless connection from Epic. Contact your Client Success Manager for set up support.

Custom Post-call Text for Voice and Video Calls (Reminder). Clinicians can now send custom no-reply text messages to patients after Dialer voice and video calls. Custom messages can be saved as templates to be reused by clinicians.

Add participants. This menu has a new look on mobile and makes it even easier to add interpreters, colleagues and other participants to video calls. As always, participants can join on video or as audio-only.

Desktop

Dialer Voice on Desktop. Doximity for Desktop has a new look and now allows clinicians to easily make voice calls directly from Dialer on their desktop. Clinicians will enter the patient's phone number, select the caller ID of their choice and click the “voice” option to facilitate an audio-only call. 

Caller ID Management through Desktop Settings. Dialer on desktop now supports Caller ID management through the settings tab. To Add, Edit or Delete an existing caller ID, simply click ‘Settings’ and scroll down to the section for `Your Caller IDs.` Note, changes to Caller IDs for your account will be reflected across both desktop and mobile.

Patient

Receive a Call. Patients now have the ability to receive a voice call when they’re unable to join a video call. The patient will tap “receive a call” to join the video call as an audio-only participant. 

Detect Language (Spanish Support). Doximity will now automatically detect if a patient's device is set to Spanish language and change the join instructions and buttons to Spanish on both mobile and desktop platforms. 

Message Expiration Extended. Patient messages will now expire after seven days instead of 24 hours which allows more time for patients to access their messages.

Suggest a Colleague Post Call Text. After a voice or video call, clinicians can text a patient with a colleague suggestion along with that colleague’s office contact information. 

Access Call Support from Settings. Clinicians can now reach Doximity Customer Support from the Dialer Settings menu. Clinicians associated with a Dialer Enterprise account will be directed to VIP support for an expedited response.

Mobile (Android)

Custom Post-call Text for Voice and Video. Clinicians can now send custom no-reply text messages to patients after Dialer voice and video calls. Custom messages can be saved as templates to be reused by clinicians. 

Suggest a Colleague Post Call Text. After a voice or video call, clinicians can text a patient with a colleague suggestion along with that colleague’s office contact information. 

One-Tap Post Call Text Sends. Android users can send patients a post-call text by tapping one button. This feature can be turned off or on in Dialer Settings.

Access Call Support from Settings. Clinicians can now reach Doximity Customer Support from the Dialer Settings menu. Clinicians associated with a Dialer Enterprise account will be directed to VIP support for an expedited response. 

Custom Wall Charts. Clinicians can now upload an image from their own device, to share with patients, by tapping the “+” button from the Wall Chart menu. 

Desktop

Dialer Voice on Desktop (Beta). Audio calls can now be made from Dialer Desktop. Clinicians will enter the patient's phone number, select the caller ID of their choice and click the “voice” option to facilitate an audio-only call. 

Emailing a Video Visit Link. A video visit link can now be emailed to a patient directly. The email will be sent from the clinician's affiliated email domain. 

Patient

Clinician Name Badge. A name badge with the clinician’s name and specialty will be displayed to patients during video visits.

Change Settings from Preview. Clinicians can quickly change their audio, camera and background settings directly from their preview on desktop by clicking on the gear icon.



Mobile

VOIP Calling. Internet-based calling, Voice Over IP is now supported for all mobile voice calls. Clinicians can place audio calls over an internet connection which enables them to seamlessly escalate an audio interaction to a face-to-face video visit. If the clinician’s connection strength will not support a VOIP call, Dialer will suggest that the call be placed over a cellular network. Clinicians can also add additional participants to the call such as colleagues and interpreter services.

‘Add’ Button for Group Voice Calls. Clinicians will see an ‘Add’ button after initiating a voice call with a patient. This will allow the clinician to enter a number of another participant or select a number from their contacts. The clinician’s number will also now be masked to all participants in the group call.

Patient

Quicker Patient Connection. Patients now have one less tap to join a video call, making the connection to the clinician even more streamlined. Patients immediately enter the video call after tapping “allow” on the microphone and camera permissions. Previously, they were asked to tap “Join Video Call’ prior to joining the video call.

New Dialer Control Sheet. Dialer video controls have been updated for simplicity and ease of use. iPhone users can swipe up on the bottom sheet during a video visit to access features including, add an interpreter, custom backgrounds and more.


Custom Background Upload. Clinicians can upload custom backgrounds from their iPhone photo roll to use on Dialer video calls as a virtual background.

Switch to Mobile Carrier. If a poor internet connection is detected on an iPhone, and network strength is determined to be poor quality, Doximity will recommend the clinician conduct the Dialer call through the mobile carrier.

Multiple Interpreter Numbers. Clinicians can now save multiple interpreter numbers within Dialer for iPhone and Android. Enterprise clients can pre-load multiple numbers for clinicians to choose from. Contact your Client Success Manager for set-up support. 

App Download Required. When clinicians access Dialer from a mobile device or tablet, the Doximity app must be downloaded from the Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android).

Patient Experience

Add Family. The “Add Family” button is a new option for patients to choose during a video call, on iPhone, Android and desktop devices allowing a family member or caretaker to join a video call. Patients can send the invite link via text message.

Desktop

UpToDate. The leading medical reference tool, UpToDate, is now available to clinicians during video calls on desktop. 

  • Users making video calls on Dialer from institutional IP addresses recognized by UpToDate will be automatically logged in. Those making calls from home will be asked to log into UpToDate once and the login information will be saved for all subsequent calls.

Multiple interpreter numbers. Clinicians can now save multiple interpreter numbers by adding the numbers under settings on desktop. The interpreter number can be selected directly from a video call on desktop. 

Mobile

Custom backgrounds. Clinicians can now select a virtual background from an iPhone mobile device in addition to Desktop. Android is coming soon. There are six default image options to choose from. 

    • Dialer Enterprise clients can load a custom virtual background for clinicians to choose from (contact your client success manager to set up your organization’s custom background). 

Adding interpreters. Clinicians will now see the interpreter phone number before they place the call. This allows users to change to a different interpreter service number if they have multiple numbers. 

    • Dialer Enterprise clients can now request to have one organization-wide interpreter number pre-loaded for clinicians to choose from (contact your client success manager to make this request).

Desktop

Audio/Video settings. Clinicians can now select their camera and microphone source directly from a Dialer Video call.

Patient Experience

Adding family members. Patients now have the ability to add a family member to a video call with a clinician. This feature is available on mobile devices and desktop.

  • We’ve updated the screen that patients see when they first click the video invite link; the page now includes the clinician’s profile picture (if available on their Doximity profile), name, and more language around HIPAA security.

Patients

  • Patients now see their doctor's profile photo if the doctor’s video is off
  • Patients will now see their doctor’s name near the menu bar
  • If a patient is on an unsupported browser, we now offer a quick copy button to allow them to copy and paste the link into another browser. 
  • Patients can now “pin” a participant’s video to be full screen; just click on the video screen of the participant whose video you want to be full-screen. 
    • Note: this only applies to calls where there are more than 2 video participants. 

Desktop

  • Clinicians can now share their screen from a video call
    • Note: On Firefox, Chrome, and Edge clinicians will be able to select what they want to share (full screen, browser window, browser tab). On Safari, clinicians will only be able to share full screen.
  • Users can now resend invites from the Call Nudge. Call a patient to check in and if you need to resend the text invite, click “Resend Invite”. The text will send from the same short-code 882-86 number used for the original invite.
  • In-call video enhancements - We now display the patient’s number in the video call.
  • Clinicians will now see an error if they attempt to send a video call invite to a landline number.
  • Clinicians can now “pin” a participant’s video to be full screen; just click on the video screen of the participant whose video you want to be full-screen.

iPhone

  • When a patient’s internet connection is unstable, we let the doctor know.
  • When a doctor’s own internet connection is unstable, we let them know.

iPad

  • Users can place video calls just as they do from an iPhone. Enter a number and tap Video Call. Texts send the same way and patients will appear in the room after tapping the link.
  • For users with calling enabled on iPad: make Dialer Voice calls from iPad by tapping “Enable Phone Calling” from settings. You’ll need to ensure your iPad and iPhone are configured to Allow Calls on Other Devices.

Android

  • Call Nudge now live! If your patient is taking a while to join the call, place an audio call to them without leaving the video call.
  • Picture in picture: when you leave the app while in a video call, your patient will appear in a small picture-in-picture style box. You can move this around your phone.
  • Select audio output: choose whether your audio comes from headphones.
  • Drag and drop Dialer video participants to a different corner of the screen.
